ACS Employment Reference Letter Services
ACS Employment Reference Letter Services
We write and review employment reference letters that meet every ACS requirement, duty by duty, so your skills assessment does not stall on documentation.
What Is an ACS Employment Reference Letter
An ACS Employment Reference Letter is a formal document from your employer that confirms your ICT work experience. ACS assessors use it to verify that your actual day-to-day duties align with your nominated ANZSCO occupation code, not just your job title.
It is required on both assessment pathways, whether you are an ICT Qualification Holder or applying through RPL. Without it your skills assessment simply cannot proceed. A basic HR letter confirming your job title and dates is not enough. ACS wants specific, detailed duty descriptions tied to your occupation.

Who Needs This Letter
You need one for every ICT role you are claiming, regardless of which assessment pathway you are on.
ICT Qualification Holders
Claiming post-qualification work experience toward your skills assessment. Every employer and every role needs its own compliant letter.
RPL Applicants
Validating five or more years of relevant ICT experience without a matching degree. The letter has to hold up on its own alongside your project reports.
Self-Employed and Freelance
Cannot issue yourself a reference letter. ACS accepts statutory declarations from clients instead, and we prepare ACS-compliant declarations for freelance applicants regularly.
Agency-Placed Staff
The letter must come from the host company you actually worked at, not the recruitment agency. Payment evidence can still come from the agency.
What ACS Requires in Every Letter
ACS publishes a fixed checklist. Missing even one field can trigger a Request for Information that sets your timeline back by weeks.
Official Company Letterhead
Employer name, address, phone and website visible on the page. No plain paper or email printouts.
Full Legal Name
Must match your passport exactly. Even a shortened or informally spelled version can flag a mismatch with ACS.
Exact Job Title and Employment Dates
Precise start and end dates in DD/MM/YYYY format. Multiple roles at one employer each need their own entry.
Weekly Hours Confirmed
Minimum 20 hours per week, stated clearly. Anything below that threshold does not count as skilled employment.
Specific Technical Duties
Role-specific bullet points tied to your ANZSCO occupation. Never copied from the ANZSCO description, always written in the employer’s own words.
Salary and Payment Evidence
Annual salary before tax, plus any two of: payslips, tax records, bank statements, or superannuation documents covering start and end of the period.
Work Location
States clearly whether the role was performed in Australia or outside Australia. ACS treats these differently in the assessment.
Authorised Signature and Contact Details
Signed by a manager or HR officer with a verifiable work email and phone number. Digital signatures need a verification certificate.
How Our Service Works
From your first consultation to a letter your employer can sign and submit, here is what happens at each step.
Consultation and Review
We check your CV, ANZSCO code and any existing letters for gaps, passport name mismatches and compliance issues before your employer signs anything.
Drafting the Duties
We write original duty descriptions for your employer to review and sign off on. Nothing is copied from ANZSCO. The wording stays in your employer’s voice.
Format and Compliance Check
We verify letterhead, name, dates, weekly hours, location, signatory details and ANZSCO alignment against the current ACS checklist before you submit.
Submission Guidance
We advise on submitting the letter and payment evidence together as part of your full ACS skills assessment.

Common Reasons Letters Get Rejected
Most delayed or rejected letters come down to a handful of avoidable issues. Any one of these can get a period of employment marked unsuitable, which directly affects your visa eligibility.
Duties Copied from ANZSCO
Wording lifted directly from the occupation description is not accepted. ACS expects duties written in the employer’s own words.
Hours Below the 20-Hour Minimum
If weekly hours are not clearly stated or fall under 20, ACS treats the entire period as unsuitable for assessment.
Name Mismatch with Passport
Even a shortened version of your name flags an inconsistency. The letter must match your passport exactly.
Letter Signed by the Agency
If you were placed through a recruitment agency, ACS requires the letter from the host company, not the agency that placed you.
Wrong Documents Submitted
Employment contracts, offer letters and position descriptions are not accepted substitutes. Only the reference letter itself counts.
Why Applicants Trust Us With Their Letter
We work exclusively on ACS documentation. This is not a general writing service.

Before the letter goes anywhere near ACS we check every required field against the published checklist. Nothing is left to chance.
